I use sound bowls and tuning forks to help unwind with my kiddos. These tools let my kids explore, play, and even practice on me, turning healing into something fun or intuitive. Sound therapy works with more subtle energies of the body, like the nervous system and connective tissues. RIP to the bowl pictured here—my son is still learning his strength.
My most memorable acupuncture sessions were the ones that went beyond the needles. When paired with massage and acupressure beforehand, the treatment helps loosen the muscles and allows the body to receive the benefits more fully. In this photo, you can see him adding electric stimulation—also known as electroacupuncture—to further support circulation and nerve activation.
Beyond the physical benefits, massage helps release energy stored in the emotional body—stress, sadness, tension, or even joy that hasn’t had space to move. It’s one of my favorite ways to treat myself and help my body purge. The best massages have left me levitating afterwards, feeling almost weightless. I even notice how the calm I carry after a massage ripples into how I show up for my kids: more chill, more patient, more grounded.
Did you know your colon is the same length as your height?! That’s 5-6 ft of intestinal lining that benefits from regular cleansing and support. Unlike enemas, colon hydrotherapy flushes the system and offers a ton of benefits: improved digestion, clearer skin, immune support, increased energy, parasitic detox, headache reduction, and more.
Also known as sensory deprivation, float therapy is a unique way to rest the body and reset the mind. You’re suspended in warm, mineral-rich saltwater with minimal light and sound — which allows your body and mind to fully relax. It’s been shown to help relieve chronic pain, reduce stress, and even enhance creativity. Some spas offer different float setups (larger open tanks or enclosed pods) that help quiet the nervous system or ease into a meditative state.
My first experience with yoni steaming was at a spa in Santa Monica, in a room covered entirely in jade! Since then, I’ve created my own herbal blends and do self-treatments at home. Steaming is used for detoxification, reducing the likelihood of fibroids, maintaining healthy vaginal flora and odor, and offers emotional release. And it’s not just for women—men can benefit too, especially when dealing with hemorrhoids or to support prostate health.
